1985 - Bowling for Soup

IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THIS SONG, THEN PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE GO LISTEN TO IT NOW. IT IS THE ACTUAL IDEAL DEFINITION OF AWESOME.

Okay. so my fangirl rant is done. So let's move to the part why I'm so adamantly in such a committed, passionate relationship with this song.

Firstly, the music is so beautiful, you have to bob your head and sing along with the lyrics.

I know, that this is a sad song, but there is something to the song that makes you happy. The song is about this woman named Debbie who's a mother of two and lives an average boring life.
In 1985, Debbie was a teenager who had her life pretty much planned, which we as teenagers try to think we do too. Even though, we like to pretend that we don't, because we have an 'image' to maintain.

She loved rock music and was an aspiring actress. But then she turns 24 and all her plans go out the door. It's like all the failures prove too be too much for her and she gives up.

But that's not the entire story, the song is about her reminiscing the good times, way back in 1985. Here's an excerpt of the lyrics:
Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
and music still on MTV
Her two kids in highschool
Tell her that she's uncool
Cause she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985
It's basically very beautiful. The songs teaches us so many things. How we can give up everything and become something we despised, in a fraction of time. That it is so important to ACT, act, ACT!!!!  and NOW!

So, that's it for now, I've got to do my Geography homework, so...........toodles!

Yours,
Zoe Summers
